Creative Element Power Tools (version 2.9.964 and later) includes native support for 64-bit (x64) Windows. This means that you can use the context-menu tools in the 64-bit edition of Windows Explorer, which includes the desktop and Start menu on all 64-bit editions of Windows 7, windows Vista, and Windows XP.

Tip: 64-bit support is installed automatically with version 2.9.964 and later (download here). Upgrading from an earlier version? After installation, open the Creative Element Power Tools Control Panel at least once, and your 64-bit tools will be ready to use.

Although we've done our best to provide a complete experience on 64-bit Windows, the following issues remain:

• The Show the full path in file dialog title bars, Quickly access recently-used folders, and Save file dialog size and view settings tools only work on file dialogs in native 32-bit applications. (Furthermore, these tools only support the older-style, pre-Vista dialog windows, which are typically not found in 64-bit applications anyway.)

• The Quickly select files tool only works in the 32-bit edition of Windows Explorer, and only on Windows XP; this tool is not supported in Windows 7 or Vista at all.

• File types locked with File Type Doctor can still be reinstated in Windows Explorer's New menu in some circumstances on 64-bit Windows.

We have plans to resolve these issues in upcoming releases of Creative Element Power Tools.

Notes

• There are currently no plans to support the IA64 (Itanium) architecture in Creative Element Power Tools; only the more-common x64 architecture is supported at this time. If you're interested in a native IA64 edition Creative Element Power Tools, please let us know.
