Getting Started with Route 1 Pro

Here are detailed steps for correctly downloading, installing, registering, and upgrading Route 1 Pro on your computer. If any of these steps don't work for you, please send us email with a specific description of the problem you're having.

If you don't have Route 1 Pro yet:
  1. Go to the Download Route 1 Pro page.
  2. Choose your operating system from the list, and click Download Now.
  3. A window will appear, asking you to choose a folder on your hard disk in which to save the file. Choose your desktop folder, and click Save.
  4. Once the download is complete, close your web browser, and double-click on the file icon you just downloaded, which should be on your desktop. If it's not there, the download was either not successful, or you placed the file in the wrong folder.
  5. Follow the instructions in the installer. If, at the end, the installer says you must restart Windows, do it now.
  6. To Start Route 1 Pro (if it's not already running), click the Route 1 Pro icon in the Programs folder of your Start Menu. If the Route 1 Pro entry is not there, the installation process was not completed.
  7. If you have any problem with Route 1 Pro after it has been successfully installed, see the release notes and frequently asked questions.

If you haven't registered yet:
  1. If you use Route 1 Pro for more than 30 days, we ask that you register.
  2. To register, start by going to the order form.
  3. After you've submitted the information on the form, you should receive a registration file in an email from us within 24-48 hours.
  4. Follow the instructions in the registration email to complete your registration of Route 1 Pro.
  5. The next time you start Route 1 Pro, it will be registered in your name, and it will never expire.

If you want to upgrade your installed copy of Route 1 Pro to the newest version:
  1. Regardless of the version you were using, you can always download and install the latest release right over the one you have, and all of your settings will be preserved.
  2. If you are a registered user, the upgrade to the newest version is always free - forever. If the version of Route 1 Pro you currently have installed is version 2.0 or later, your current registration will be preserved automatically when you install the new release. If you have an earlier version, you'll need to contact us for an updated registration.
  3. Go to the Download Route 1 Pro page, choose your operating system from the list, and click Download Now.
  4. A window will appear, asking you to choose a folder on your hard disk in which to save the file. Choose your desktop folder, and click Save.
  5. Once the download is complete, close your web browser, and double-click on the file icon you just downloaded, which should be on your desktop. If it's not there, the download was either not successful, or you placed the file in the wrong folder.
  6. Follow the instructions in the installer. Don't worry - your Route 1 Pro configuration will remain intact. If, at the end, the installer says you must restart Windows, do it now.
  7. If you have any problem with Route 1 Pro after it has been successfully installed, see the Release Notes and Frequently Asked Questions.
