Version 3.1.104, released February 7, 2002.

If you're experiencing a problem with Route 1 Pro, and you don't have the latest version, please download and install the most recent release now. Also, check out the list of Frequently Asked Questions for additional troubleshooting information.

What's new in this release:

  • An incompatibility with the new styles in Windows XP has been resolved.
  • Items can now be rearranged directly in the SubMenu and ButtonBar editors. Note that you can always drag-drop items with the right mouse button.
  • If you were unable to use the Shut Down or Restart buttons in Route 1 Pro under Windows 2000 or Windows XP, this has been fixed in this release.
  • Three issues that affected the way the previous version of Route 1 Pro imported shortcuts have been resolved:
    1. Route 1 Pro no longer crashes while attempting to import the contents of the Start Menu in Windows 2000/XP.
    2. Route 1 Pro is now able to import new "Windows Installer" style Windows shortcuts that previously weren't recognized in Route 1 Pro. Note that any previously-imported, non-functional shortcuts will need to be re-imported.
    3. Route 1 Pro now imports shortcuts from both the "All Users" and "Current User" Start Menu folders.
  • Various other bugs have been fixed.

Known issues with this release:

  • Windows Shortcuts to Network Connections in Windows 2000 and Windows XP may not launch properly from Route 1 Pro. This is caused by a bug in Windows 2000/XP, and although we do not have a fix, we're investigating a workaround.

  • On some Windows 9x/Me systems, you may get an error stating that component MSGHOO32.OCX is not correctly registered or that the file is missing or invalid. This is a known problem on this platform, and will be fixed in the next release. In the mean time, there are two workarounds:
    • If you have Windows Me or better, you should be able to work around this by uninstalling Route 1 Pro, then installing Creative Element Power Tools, and then re-installing Route 1 Pro. You don't have to leave Creative Element Power Tools on your system if you don't want to.
    • If you're using Windows 98 or Windows 95, you can try one of the older versions of Route 1 Pro: v3.1 or v3.0. Depending on what other programs are installed on your system, these may or may not solve the problem.

  • During installation, some users may encounter an error stating that CTL3D32.DLL is not the correct version. This warning can be safely ignored.

  • If you turn off the little screw head icons by going to Configure -> Settings -> Features -> Screw style and choosing the blank button, it won't work. Instead, you'll simply get a screw head assortment the next time you open a dialog box. This will be fixed in the next version.

  • Route 1 Pro may look strange if "skinned" by programs like WindowBlinds. If this is the case on your system, simply add Route 1 Pro to the list of exclusions in the WindowBlinds software.

  • Under certain circumstances, a SubMenu's contents may disappear if its icon is changed. This only happens when the SubMenu is added to the ButtonBar using Configure -> Buttons, and the icon is changed by later returning to Configure -> Buttons. This bug will be fixed in the next release. In the mean time, there is a more-convenient way to add SubMenus and modify them that doesn't exhibit this problem. Instead of using the menu, insert SubMenus by right-clicking (using the right mouse button) anywhere on the ButtonBar, and selecting Insert -> SubMenu. Then, change the button's icon by right-clicking and selecting Properties.
